Our leaders are experts at channeling employees’ energy and passion for their work toward Xtensible’s vision of fully integrated solutions while encouraging the relationships and unique culture that our company has enjoyed since its inception.

Greg Robinson – General Manager

In January 1998, Greg Robinson became a founder of and consultant for Xtensible Solutions. Mr. Robinson is recognized as an expert and trusted advisor among utility executives and management with operational and system responsibilities. His primary focus is lowering utitlities’ life-cycle costs and facilitating their business transformation by planning and implementing semantically consistent integration among applications and data stores.

Mr. Robinson is an ambassador for the utility industry as a whole, leading and participating in multiple standards organizations. His current roles include Convener of IEC TC57 Working Group 14, Vice-Chair for the Enterprise Information Management (EIM) Taskforce of the Open Smart Grid User Group (OpenSG), and voting member of the NIST Smart Grid Interoperability Panel (SGIP). Prior to the creation of Xtensible Solutions, Mr. Robinson provided consulting services encompassing operational business systems requirements analysis and design, architecture development, business case development, project management, and training. Mr. Robinson also has experience leading software development projects for electric utility energy management and distribution automation systems.

Joe Zhou – Vice President, Strategy and Marketing

Joe Zhou is Xtensible’s VP of Strategy and Marketing. Mr. Zhou works with his clients to build sustainable information management and integration solutions that leverage industry standards and best practices. As a pioneer and thought leader in applying enterprise information management disciplines to enable Smart Grid solutions, Mr. Zhou consults between Smart Grid interoperability standards development efforts and their applications at some of the largest utilities in the world. Mr. Zhou plays leadership roles in and contributes regularly to standards groups, including IEC TC57 WGs, NAESB, UCAiug OpenSG, and ZigBee SEP.

Terry Saxton – Vice President, Standards and Special Projects

Terry Saxton is Vice President, leading the Standards and Special Projects division, and a founder of Xtensible Solutions. As a regular participant in international electric utility industry conferences, Mr. Saxton manages workshops and panel sessions on topics concerning standards-based model-driven integration. Mr. Saxton is Convener of IEC TC57 WG13, responsible for the CIM standards dealing with energy management system interfaces, and co-chair of the CIM Users Group. He manages projects for EPRI, most recently to extend the CIM to support planning applications, dynamic model exchange, and harmonization with 61850 standards. He also consults for major IOU utilities in implementing the CIM standards in their SG projects.

Mr. Saxton has many years of experience in the analysis, design, development, and implementation of a wide range of system integration solutions for electric utilities and the US Department of Defense.  Prior to starting Xtensible Solutions, Terry worked for BearingPoint, KEMA Consulting, Siemens Power Systems Control, Honeywell, Information Exchange Systems, and Bell Telephone Laboratories. He received an MSEE from MIT and a BSEE and BS Math with Honors from California State Polytechnic University.

 


Kyle Rainey
 – Vice President, Business Development

Kyle Rainey joined the Xtensible team as Vice President of Business Devlopment in 2011. Mr. Rainey is a proven account management and business development professional with a record of consistent over-achievement and demonstrated client satisfaction. His wealth of knowledge and proven history of establishing and improving relationships within the industry for his direct and indirect clients has proven invaluable.  He has been directly responsible for business development and field sales operations in several of the fastest growing companies in the software industry.

Successful in both start-up and controlled growth operations, Mr. Rainey enjoys relationships with decision makers and operational management across the world.

 

Phillip Jones – Director, Solution Development

Phillip Jones is Director of Solution Development, based in Denver, Colorado, and Manager of Xtensible Solutions South Africa.   Mr. Jones joined Xtensible Solutions in 2005 and now leads the solution development of semantics-based systems integration and service-oriented architecture (SOA) consulting, using the Model-Driven Information, Integration, and Intelligence Framework (MD3i) for utility industry client enterprise information management (EIM) initiatives. Mr. Jones also actively participates in several industry organizations, including the IEC TC57 South African National Committee (SANC) and the Engineering Council of South Africa.

Mr Jones’ experience includes enterprise architecture, championing service orientated, de-coupled architectures and semantic-based system integration. His subject matter expertise includes smart grid, advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), meter data management (MDMS), strategic asset management, engineering design and construction, work management, energy management, geographical information system (GIS), maintenance and inspection, outage management, mobile workforce management, and engineering analysis.

 

Harry Garton – Vice President, Professional Services

In March 2004, Harry Garton joined Xtensible Solutions as account manager for the California ISO.  As Mr. Garton’s project list expanded to include ONCOR and Progress Energy, he distinguished himself as a forward-thinking, planning visionary.  Mr. Garton became the Vice President of Professional Services in 2005 and has been instrumental in hiring, managing, mentoring, and promoting professional and individual growth among the Xtensible family. His daily responsibilities entail advising external and internal clients on goals, objectives, and strategies. Mr. Garton’s support for the utility industry extends to his commitment to standards groups, including the IEC CIM Users Group Enterprise Application and Information Integration Task Force, where he acts as Co-Chair, and IEC TC57 Working Group 16, which focuses on deregulated energy market communications.
